Hospital Bag Must-Haves

It’s a few weeks until the big day. You’ve dug out your bag, and you start pulling out all the bits you think you may need for when you go into labour.

It’s easy to go overboard - believe me, it’s something that I certainly did, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for any eventuality does it? You’re going into the unknown - literally anything could happen, and unfortunately no one knows how fast or slow your labour will be; every person is different.

There are, however, a few important items that you certainly need to ensure you’ve packed so we thought we would break them down, below!

  • Birth preferences
  • Snacks (regardless of the length of your labour, snacks are a must!)
  • Purse (for more snacks)
  • Dressing gown
  • Flannel
  • Towel
  • Comfortable pyjamas
  • Socks and/or slippers
  • Leggings
  • Water bottle
  • Going home outfit
  • Breast pads
  • Nipple cream
  • Lip balm
  • Maternity pads
  • Big pants
  • Hair bobbles

-You’re likely to use less than you think, but pack the amount you feel is right for your birth!

-Particularly for baby’s bits, use labelled ziplock bags to make sure everything is easy to find. This will be super helpful to your partner too.

-Make sure you have a list of the special people you’d like to contact once the baby has arrived (and don't feel obliged to spend ages letting everyone know if you don't want to yet).
